John Russell John Russell is a founding partner of the law firm McCoy Russell LLP , based in Portland, OR.  John obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and began his career as an engineer at Ford Motor Company, where he implemented feedback control systems and signal processing techniques before transitioning to the intellectual property department at Ford.  John also received a Master of Science in Engineering from University of California at Berkeley, where he worked in the bio-informatics and haptic interface space.  John received his J.D. from the University of Michigan and is a named inventor on more than a 170 U.S. patents to date.  At McCoy Russell, John represents clients in a variety of patent and trademark matters.


Anna McCoy Anna McCoy is a founding partner of McCoy Russell LLP , an intellectual property law firm based in Portland, OR. She began her career at an IP boutique firm, and has been a partner at McCoy Russell (formerly Alleman Hall McCoy Russell & Tuttle) for thirteen years. Anna earned her J.D. at Lewis & Clark Law School, where she graduated with honors with a General Business Law Certificate and was a member of the Journal of Small and Emerging Business Law. Before that, she earned a B.A. in Chemistry at Reed College and completed graduate work at Oregon Health Science University in pharmacology and physiology. At McCoy Russell, Anna represents clients in all aspects of patent and trademark matters, including licensing and managing patent and trademark portfolios, patentability studies, trademark use and registration studies, patent non-infringement and invalidity studies, and preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications before the USPTO. She has drafted and prosecuted patents in a broad range of technical fields.


Arsalan is a Technical Specialist at McCoy Russell LLP. He has a background in science and engineering with a degree in chemistry from Oregon State University. Arsalan identifies as a lifelong learner who continuously seeks knowledge by identifying, assimilating and imagining the utility of emerging sciences, technologies and ideas. He is passionate about niche or quirky products and spends his free time outdoors.


Marina Chong is a technical specialist at McCoy Russell LLP, based in Portland, OR. She obtained her Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Hawaii, Manoa. Marina is an inorganic chemist with a interest in renewable energy, nanotechnology, and material science with a wide range of scientific knowledge. She is also an avid martial artist, dog owner/ownee, and outdoor enthusiast.
